England stormed to a 5-0 series whitewash in the recently-concluded ODI series in between two teams. England’s scoring a world record 481/6 from their 50 over’s in the third ODI at Trent Bridge on their way to a 242-run victory but England’s Twenty20 international form is poor – suffering three defeats in a row at the Trans-Tasman Tri Series before recovering to beat New Zealand in their final game. they lost their last T20 international on home soil too – a 21-run defeat to West Indies in Durham. Australia won all five T20 internationals in the Trans-Tasman T20 Tri-Series in February, beating England and New Zealand twice in the group stage before victory against the latter in the final. Australia restricted New Zealand to just 117/9 in their first match, before winning by seven wickets after a rain-affected reply. They followed it up with back-to-back wins against England – Glenn Maxwell leading the pursuit of 156 to win in the first match with his fabulous performance 58-ball 103*, before they restricted England to 137/7 in the second match and chased it with 33 balls remaining. A high-scoring game against New Zealand followed – Australia achieving the highest ever run chase, after New Zealand posted 243/6. Australia reached their target with seven balls to spare.
